Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Uganda on Monday afternoon after spending the morning in Rwanda – in what seems to be efforts to defuse Kigali-Kampala tensions.
Kenyatta flew into Rwanda early morning on an unannounced trip. He spent more than an hour in talks with Kagame at the RDF Combat Training Centre in Gabiro, Gatsibo District, eastern Rwanda, where a government annual retreat is ongoing.
From the private talks, the Kenyan leader moved into the retreat conference hall where he addressed the leaders.
Kenyatta flew back to Kigali onboard an RDF helicopter to Kigali international airport.
He arrived in Uganda late afternoon, meeting President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.
No details are available on the contents of the private talks in Kigali and Entebbe, but Rwanda and Uganda are embroiled in a bitter row. Rwanda has put out serious specific accusations which Uganda he been speaking about in general terms.
Tanzania and Kenya could be working out a mediation plan, according to local and regional observers.
