Tshisekedi To “Reveal DR Congo Recovery Plan” In Rwanda

DR Congo’s new President Félix Tshisekedi, expected in Kigali for two-day visit later this month, will also unveil how he plans to change his country’s fortunes.
Tshisekedi arrives here March 25. He is expected to hold talks with Rwandan counterpart President Paul Kagame, only the second following the short meeting on the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Ethiopia in January.
While here, Tshisekedi will attend the AFRICA CEO FORUM taking place then as well March 25-26.
Some 1,500 business leaders, public decision-makers and investors from Africa and around the world will descend on Kigali.
“..the AFRICA CEO FORUM will enable President Tshisekedi to present his economic recovery plan to the community of international investors and business leaders,” said the organisers in a statement.
“As the newly elected Head of State of the DRC is now faced with challenges ranging from diversifying an economy that is highly dependent on the mining sector, to developing the country’s infrastructure and agriculture, fighting mass unemployment, and improving the business climate to spur investments…”
Several other heads of government will attend.
Vital Kamerhe, President Tshisekedi’s chief of staff was in Kigali recently to prepare for his boss’ trip. His delegation met President Paul Kagame.
In the meeting also was former Defense Minister Gen James Kabarebe, currently security advisor; Gen Joseph Nzabamwita, head of the National Intelligence and Security Service; and Col (Rtd) Anaclet Kalibata the Director General of External Security at NISS
