Local renowned gospel singer Patient Bizimana has another big gift for you this long Easter weekend, like he has done for previous years – collaborating with international gospel stars for must-attend concert.

This year, Patient, as he is commonly known, is bringing DR Congo gospel personality Alka Mbumba – the name behind ‘Fanda Nayo’ song and name. Popular female gospel singer Gaby Kamanzi will also be on the stage.

The group coming from Burundi is ‘Redemption Voice’, known for powerful vocals.

The concert has been held since 2015 and is called “Easter Celebration”. The 5th edition will be on Sunday April 21 at Gikondo Expo Ground in Gikondo, 5pm.

It had been planned that global icon Don Moen would grace the concert as the major act, but has already been featured in Rwanda – brought by another music promotions group in February.

“By bringing international stars to the Easter Celebration, is meant to connect Rwandan gospel music to global trends and I think we have been successful,” said Patient Bizimana, in interview with The Chronicles.

In 2016 South African gospel star Solly Mahlangu known in the popular song “Waha Nathi” performed here.

The following year 2017, Burundi musical evangelist Apolinaire Habonimana , and Kenya’s Marion Shako performed together.

Last year edition, Rwanda gospel fans flocked to the stadium in Kigali for a taste of Nigeria’s Sinach – best known for her award winning songs like “I know who I am” and “Way Maker”.

Asked whether bringing Congolese would not be a problem since they will largely be singing in French or Congolese languages, the organizer Patient said: “Actually, that diversity of languages is what makes the celebration vibrant and appealing as it shows the Holly Spirit is shared.”

Tickets for the 2019 Easter Celebration Concert are Rwf 5000 and 10,000.
