Rayon Sports has a huge fan-base spread across the whole country even in areas of its competitors. Its fans are considered the most passionate about their team and are even funding some of its needs

The draw is out for the 2019 Peace Cup football tournament, issued in Kigali this Wednesday by the local football body FERWAFA.

National league table leaders Rayon Sport FC will face off with AS Kigali in the opening game encounter. Both are heavyweights in the national league, leaving their supporters to call the match a ‘game of death’.

Over twenty football teams qualified for the draws held at FERWAFA headquarters in Remera. Most of the first Division league teams picked Second Division sides.

Military side APR FC which has almost lost hope to defend the national league trophy which they won last season, drew Rwamagana City FC.

Winning the Peace Cup title is last chance for APR FC to have a trophy, as this year’s league title is headed Rayon Sports way.

A team that wins the Peace Cup gets ticket for the Confederation of the African Football games towards the end of this year.

The 2018 Peace Cup defending champions Mukura VS will battle Second Division side Unity.

The Huye district-based team will finish the season without any other title.

Meanwhile, law enforcers Police FC will travel to Gicumbi distric in the first encounter against Gicumbi FC. Bugesera FC will take on second division side Vision FC.

Nyagatare-based side Sunrise FC will host Espoir FC, Kiyovu vs Etoile De L’EST, Marines FC will host Rubavu based side Etincelles FC, Intare will battle Interforce FC while both second division table leaders Gasogi United have a soft path to the second stage of the competition against a weaker Hope FC.

In the women draws, nine teams have been drawn in three separate groups. In Pool A, defending champions AS Kigali is placed along with Inyemera FC and AS Kabuye FC.

In Pool B, Rugende WFC drew Kamonyi and Scandinavia, while Pool C will see Freedom de Gakenke WFC tussling with Bugesera WFC and E.S Mutunda WFC to qualify from this group.

The dates for this year’s Peace Cup will be confirmed by FERWAFA competition in the coming days, according to officials.
