South Sudan opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar arrives in the capital Juba this morning to hold a face to face meeting with President Salva Kiiir Mayardit.
Accompanied by 68 officials from his rebel forces, Machar will also be officially reinstated as First Vice President of the country in fulfillment of a shaky peace deal.
President Kiir and Dr Machar, according to media report, will discuss “two outstanding issue” which are training of unified forces and number of states.
Rwanda has over 2,700 troops in South Sudan as part of UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Since 2017 until this past May, UNMISS was commanded by Rwandan Lt Gen Frank Mushyo Kamanzi.
