DR Congo military on Saturday early morning handed over nearly two thousand Rwandans via the Rusizi-Bukavu border, in southwestern Rwanda.
A total of 1,900 were repatriated including 71 combatants and the rest dependants.
This latest repatriation follows that of 291 combatants handed over last Monday including senior commanders of the CNRD Rwandan rebel force which has been operating in Kalehe territory of South Kivu for less than two years.
Those who arrived on Saturday were mainly family members of the previous batch who were just combatants and commanders.
DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi said two weeks ago that within days CNRD would be completely wiped out on DRC soil.
The rebel force was a splinter faction of the FDLR, and was led by former Prime Minister Faustin Twagiramungu based in Belgium, and Paul Rusesabagina, the personality behind the ‘Hotel Rwanda’ movie.
In social media posts and YouTube videos, Twagiramungu claims the people being handed over are forcefully repatriated Rwandan refugees who were bundled on trucks at gunpoint to be sent to Rwanda.
