Before you enter this room to relax, you will have left your ID details at entry

All hospitality places have now been required to keep identities of EVERYONE who enters their joints as part of new COVID-19 control measures.

In other words, all hotels, bars, coffee shops, lodges, restaurants and any places where people relax is concerned. Here, at entry, the security guard will take your temperature, and also record your phones, time of visit, homes village and full names.

The new guidelines communicated by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) which oversees the hospitality industry, follow those introduced last week that require beauty joints such as hair saloons to keep details about clients.

“This information will be kept confidential, and may only be used for contact tracing of COVID-19 cases, should it be necessary,” says RDB in its communication.

Currently, bars are not yet open as the partial lockdown continues until end of this week. However, the country is under curfew from 8pm till morning.

The positive cases of the virus are 135 including one identified yesterday. 150 others have recovered and gone home including 10 yesterday alone. No deaths so far.
