Gor Mahia, the Kenyan champions managed a 4-3 aggregate win against the Rwandan side after winning the return leg played at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium 3-1, on Saturday to overturn the 2-1 defeat suffered in the first leg played at Nyamirambo Stadium in Kigali a week ago.
Maj Gen Muganga, the RDF commander overseeing eastern province and Kigali, told the media on Monday that they had learned key lessons from the Kenyan game.
“We ask our fans to forgive us for this loss, but we can promise that we are going to make major adjustments to ensure we give them a good show in the local league,” said Muganga.
The APR FC-Gor Mahia match was for qualifiers for the CAF Championship.
