We Wish Dr Kayumba Well In His New Career Path

In October 2011, ISSUE 001 of The Chronicles was published as a hard copy and online. A few years later, publication was suspended due to factors beyond our control at the time, a subject for another time.
Then, in February 2019, we relaunched. The spirit behind the original brand remains the same. Our founding partners intended to create a publication in Rwanda that tells the story without influence from any side of Rwanda’s visible divide – to inform the public objectively.
Among The Chronicles founding partners was Dr Kayumba Christopher. As the Managing Editor, he has steered the editorial direction that has eventually created the name recognition that our publication has to date. It is a brand we are proud of.
This week, however, Dr Kayumba announced he was forming a political organization. We have held discussions with him about the way forward. He will no longer have any role in The Chronicles.
We wish Dr Kayumba well in his new career path.
By joining the political arena, Dr Kayumba’s status now changes, from a news writer and editor to a source for news. We will interview him like we do with all political, social and economic actors. We will probe him without bias, the same way we treat all our news sources.
In the meantime, the Editor Fred Mwasa, will take over the management of The Chronicles. All business and editorial transactions will be handled by him as we look for Dr. Kayumba’s replacement.
