A court in Ethiopia has ordered arrest of former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn after he refused to respond to a court summon.

Desalegn has been charged by the Ethiopian High Court with a felony criminal mischief. What this essentially means is that he was summoned to appear as a witness to which he didn’t appear.

The case relates to a corruption scheme in which several former and current Government officials are accused of fraudulent payment.

Four defendants, including former Metec Director General Kinfe Dagnawu, who has been in custody since 2011, have been indicted on corruption charges related to the purchase of farm implements.

METEC is Ethiopia’s largest company — a sprawling military-run industrial conglomerate. It has interests in nearly all aspects of the economy.

Accordingly, in 2013, the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, appeared in court.

In a 2014 low interest rate agreement, Ethiopia’s defense received $ 50 million from the Polish government, which was paid to agricultural equipment companies in Poland, and the money was not imported.

The former Premier Hailemariam Desalegn,  has been repeatedly summoned to testify in Shide’s defense.

Hailemariam Desalegn, who was summoned by the Federal Police, responded by saying that it had not been able to locate him through the office of the former Prime Minister.

Defendant’s attorneys, for their part, said Hailemariam Desalegn was working for the Roman Foundation and was being escorted by government police.

Federal High Court Lideta 5th Corruption Crimes Tribunal ordered police to search for Hailemariam Desalegn and arrest him. It is the reason he will be arrested, unless something happens behind the scenes.

The court session is rescheduled for March 8, 9, and 12 to hear defense evidence from the former PM and other witnesses.

  12. On July 1, 2023, programs from five agencies merged to become DIAL due to a statewide government restructuring. After passing the exam, download and print your license through your secure account at the DBPR website. Once your initial license is activated, it is valid for 18 to 24 months, depending on when you pass the state exam.  Those with an existing criminal record may still apply for a real estate license in Florida, but license approval will depend on the specific crime, as well as the amount of time that has elapsed since the crime was committed. You can look at the Florida’s Chief Financial Officer website to get a better idea of the waiting periods for specific offenses and which offenses are deal-breakers with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).

Off market, wholesale and For Sale By Owner (FSBO) real estate transactions are typically not priced for the seller and assignor (wholesaler) to pay buyer agent commission. Unless the seller explicitly states in their listing that they are offering a 2% or 3% commission to buyer’s agents, it should not be expected of the seller and or assignor to pay the buyer’s agent commission for an offer at asking price. In most cases, buyers don’t directly pay their real estate agent—the buyer’s agent commission is paid by the seller, so whether you use an agent or not, you won’t be out of pocket. A good real estate agent makes their job look easy; look at homes all day, set up appointments, then make a couple of phone calls to negotiate when the client says “buy.” But it’s the experience of years spent getting to know the market and understanding the rules and regulations that helps them develop a keen eye for the pitfalls and possibilities of homebuying. With a buyer’s agent by your side, you’ve got an expert in your corner helping you find the right home at the right price.
